민주공원노동조합, 5.18기념재단노동조합, 민주화운동기념사업회노동조합의 3개 노동단체가 미얀마(버마) 민주항쟁을 지지하는 공동 성명을 발표했다.

3개 노조는 13일 "민주주의를 향한 투쟁에서 미얀마 민중과 우리는 하나다"라는 제목의 성명을 통해, '미얀마 군부독재 정권 규탄'과 '미얀마 민주주의 향한 미얀마 민중 지지'한다고 했다.

성명은 한국어과 영어, 미얀마어로 함께 발표되었다.

3개 노조는 "미얀마 군부가 당장 권력을 민중에게 이양하고 퇴진할 것을 요구한다"며 "2월 1일 미얀마 군부 쿠데타로 시작된 유혈사태의 모든 책임은 군부에 있다"고 했다.

이들은 "미얀마 노동자와 민중의 민주화를 위한 투쟁을 적극 지지하며 미얀마 민중에게 강력한 연대의 의지를 보낸다"고 했다.

한국의 1960년 4.19혁명, 1979년 부마민주항쟁, 1980년 5.18민주화운동, 1987년 6.10민주항쟁을 열거한 이들은 "그 과정에서 많은 희생이 있었다"고 했다.

이어 "민주주의를 향한 한국 민중의 투쟁이 그랬듯이 지금 미얀마 민중은 피를 흘리며 민주주의라는 나무를 심고 있다"며 "그렇기에 미얀마 민중의 희생과 죽음 앞에 함께 통곡하며 더 이상의 무고한 죽음을 묵과할 수 없다"고 덧붙였다.

3개 노조는 "미얀마 민중과 대한민국 민중은 민주주의를 향한 길에 함께 손잡고 있다"며 "미얀마 민주주의를 위해 투쟁하는 미얀마 민중의 신실한 친구로서 비록 멀리 한국에 있지만 우리가 할 수 있는 모든 노력을 경주할 것을 약속한다"고 했다.

<성명 전문> 민주주의를 향한 투쟁에서 미얀마 민중과 우리는 하나다

우리는 미얀마 군사독재 정권을 규탄한다. 우리는 미얀마 노동자와 민중의 민주화를 위한 투쟁을 적극 지지한다. 미얀마 민중과 대한민국 민중은 민주주의를 향한 길에 함께 손잡고 있다. 우리는 미얀마 민중과 하나다. 우리는 미얀마 민중에게 강력한 연대의 의지를 보낸다.

지난 2월 1일 미얀마 군부의 쿠데타로 시작한 미얀마 유혈사태의 모든 책임은 군부에게 있다. 미얀마 민중의 투쟁은 인간의 존엄성을 실현하기 위한 목소리다. 미얀마 민중의 투쟁은 민주주의를 갈망하는 몸부림이다. 미얀마 민중의 투쟁은 인간의 생존권을 요구하는 처절한 절규다. 이러한 민중의 투쟁을 총칼로 탄압하는 행동은 어떠한 정당성도 갖지 못한다. 미얀마 군부는 당장 권력을 민중에게 이양하고 퇴진하여야 한다.

대한민국은 민주주의를 위한 오랜 투쟁의 역사를 갖고 있다. 그 과정에서 많은 사람이 다쳤고 감옥에 갇혔다. 또 많은 사람이 죽었다. 1960년 4·19혁명, 1979년 부마민주항쟁, 1980년 5·18민주화운동, 1987년 6·10민주항쟁은 독재에 항거한 자랑스러운 우리의 역사다. 민주주의를 향한 한국 민중의 투쟁이 그랬듯이 지금 미얀마 민중은 피를 흘리며 민주주의라는 나무를 심고 있다. 그 고통을 알기에, 그 눈물을 우리도 흘렸기에 우리는 미얀마 민중의 희생과 죽음 앞에 함께 통곡한다. 더 이상의 무고한 죽음을 우리는 묵과할 수 없다. 미얀마 군부는 탄압을 멈추고 즉각 퇴진하여야 한다.

우리는 미얀마 민주주의를 위해 투쟁하는 미얀마 민중의 신실한 친구로서 비록 멀리 한국에 있지만 우리가 할 수 있는 모든 노력을 경주할 것을 약속한다. 미얀마 민주주의 만세.

People of Myanmar and We Are One in the Struggle for Democracy

We condemn the Myanmar military regime. We strongly support the struggle for democratization of the workers and people of Myanmar. The people of Myanmar and the people of Republic of Korea are on the same path toward democracy. We are one with the people of Myanmar. We send a strong will of solidarity to the people of Myanmar.

All responsibility for the bloodshed in Myanmar, which began on February 1st and was caused by the Myanmar military coup, rests with the military. The struggle of the people of Myanmar is the voice to realize human dignity. The struggle of the people of Myanmar is an action of those who are craving for democracy. The struggle of the people of Myanmar is a desperate outcry for the right to live. The actions of oppressing these people's struggles with guns and other weapons do not have any legitimacy. The Myanmar military regime must immediately hand over power to the civilian government and step down.

The Republic of Korea has a long history of struggle for democracy. In this struggle, many people were injured and imprisoned. Additionally, many people died. The April 19 Revolution in 1960, the Bu-Ma (Busan and Masan) Democratic Uprising in 1979, the May 18 Democratic Uprising in 1980, and the June 10 Struggle in 1987 are all part of our proud history of resisting dictatorship. Just like the Korean people's struggle for democracy, the people of Myanmar are bleeding and planting the seeds of democracy. Having known the pain and shed our tears, we are collectively crying out in agony for the sacrifices taken as well as those who have perished in Myanmar. The death of innocent people can no longer be overlooked. The Myanmar military regime should immediately stop this suppression and step down.

We, as faithful friends of the people of Myanmar who are fighting for Myanmar's democracy, promise to make every effort possible on your behalf though we in Korea are far from the current battleground. Long live democracy in Myanmar!
